I went away for a small staycation during the pongal holidays and this is what i packed with me in my Coffee Bag. Yes iam snobby enough to do this even if i travel away just for a day (drip bags to the rescue). Also iam so used to good coffee that i really want to carry my own even when iam away from my brew station. iam team #blackcoffee through and through. i very rarely enjoy coffee with milk; coffee recipes are okay as long as the base is cold brew but i cant do milk based recipes that most cafes give me so i tend to always carry my own stash. iam so used to the good coffee that my withdrawal symptoms hit me within 24 hours max. so caffeinate i must!
The Bag
I tend to carry everything in little organiser/pouches/bags. my over consumption is limited to organiser pouches and mini diaries (this i broke off when i went paperless in 2019) but i still continue to get cute bags and organisers all the time 😐 This bag i got cuz it was holographic, fun and holds a lot.
The Portable Espresso Machine
I will admit iam a little obsessed with the Portable Espresso Machine. It weighs 500grams (give or take), has both the pod and ground coffee attachments so i LOVE this.
I also loved the easy and convenience of using this. A well made espresso in minutes – best way to break the snoozes on the vacation.
Pods
I did carry some pods with me. These were commodity coffee pods and make an averagely good cup. But i took some with me in case i was really pressed for time or got too lazy 😛
Coffee Beans
This time around i took the Caffinary x Greenlands Estate Beans with me to use with the espresso machine. Pros : You can never beat the coffee you get from fresh coffee beans Cons : You have to carry a coffee grinder to be able to use them.
Sometimes i take ground beans with me. That way i get specialty coffee and i dont have to carry a grinder with me. Coffee is good for vacays under a fortnight.
Grinder : Timemore C2
I took my trusty Timemore C2 with me. The ONLY con i have is that it is heavy. Heaver than the espresso machine in fact, which makes me really sad. Must find an alternate for this.
The Scale
I too myHario Scale cuz its the only one i have. It works beautifully but i worry about the scale making it through the travel. I know the Acaia scale is smaller and more compact and the Timemore Nano rivals this at lesser than 200g with USB C charging, So must think about getting a smaller one for travels.
