The first step to making an iced espresso is to make the espresso.
Espresso
The Coffeeza Finero Mini makes the job super easy.
I have used the ground coffee part of the machine here.
– 8g of coffee
– 100g of water at 97C (Water is Zura Mgic always)
– machine on and espresso is done in under a minute.
Iced Espresso
Typically adding an espresso to ice if frowned upon – shocking change in temperatures may mean bringing out oiliness and the bitters out.
Recommendations range from adding a splash of water to the hot espresso to adding ice to the espresso instead of the other way around.
However what worked for me was just letting the espresso cool down about the time it took me to weigh out 100g of ice. About 30-ish seconds. What also helped is stirring the espresso before adding it to ice.
Iam going to experiment with adding ice to the espresso, chilling the espresso glass to see if these permutations and combinations make a difference.
Will keep you posted.
