Classic Coffee introduces Banana Fermentation Coffee.
After a selective harvest has been done, the cherries are taken through the process of pulping, fermentation & washing, with the introduction of elements from a banana tree. This method helps in greatly elevating the inherent characteristics of the bean.
Our Banana Fermented Coffee has flavours of blood orange, toasted nuts and long lasting finish of jaggery.

Classic Coffee is an offering from Harley Coffee LLP, a company that specializes in the cultivation and production of finely crafted coffees. The company draws on the heritage of the Classic Group, a conglomerate with interests in diverse sectors, which is led by 4th and 5th generation coffee planters. The company’s assets include coffee estates in Sakleshpur and Chikmagalur, both over 100 years old and home to some of the finest, award-winning coffees grown in India.

Some of the world’s finest coffees originate from the verdant hills of Bababudangiri in Chikmagalur, and Sakleshpur in the Manjarabad region. Premium grade coffees from our own Kalladevarapura and Harley estates across these two regions have consistently been awarded as amongst the best coffees in the region. Our coffees grow under a canopy of trees and are nurtured with natural flowing spring waters. Soaking up the rich characteristics of the soil and the environment, our coffees are imbued with a unique palette of flavours and taste profiles ranging from hints of spice, fruity and floral notes. This shade-grown coffee has its own distinctive characteristics – taste, flavour, aroma and mouthfeel – resultant from our combination of technique and terroir.

Over 150 years ago, the family behind Classic Group made Indian coffee mark its presence across the world. 5 generations hence, we continue this glorious tradition. Founded and managed by 4th and 5th generation coffee planters, Classic Coffee is the culmination of a long and cherished association with coffee. Every sip of these fine coffees tells the story of expertise in cultivating, picking, processing, milling, sorting and roasting of the magical bean called coffee. The collective strengths of our current team – which was amongst the community that pioneered the global outreach of Indian coffee through export operations – across nurturing, processing and marketing has helped our coffees gain immense recognition globally. We are founder members of Specialty Coffee Association of India (SCAI), besides being members of the international Specialty Coffee Association; and our promoters are active on the India Coffee Board.(1)

what i want to remember

firstly, can we take a moment to appreciate the awesome print on the cover. i will be absolutely honest and tell you that i wanted to get a bag from classic, and i chose the Banana Fermentation because of the super bright and cheerful package. whoever the design artist, please take a big virtual hug from me.
onto the coffee – the fragrance is mildly reminiscent of uniappam. the aroma is more earthy-nutty coffee. if i hadnt read up on the banana fermentation i would have said jaggery-ish rather than uniappam. not jaggery per se. like notes of jaggery in like gothumai payasam. the marriage of molasses-jaggery. i again make this observation based on the accident of amma giving me coconut milk, instead of cow milk for the coffee.
again, it’s more of a whiff rather than the full blown riff. must work wonderfully well if you a washed-“coffee”-coffee person who typically drinks their coffee with milk.
