Sangameshwar Coffee Estates was founded in 1957 by K.S. Vaidyanathan, a stock-broker in Madras. The company and estates are now being led by third-generation coffee planters Mr. S. Appadurai and Mrs. Hamsini Appadurai. The duo work together as a team in taking the vision of their beloved founder forward. They believe, its not just about coffee but more about a passion to be guardians of the land, an adventurous spirit and a commitment to quality and sustainability that has been passed down generations.
Karadykan is situated in the Bababundan-giris at 1200 – 1400 MASL. This 320 hectare farm, receiving about 100 inches of rainfall a year is surrounded by three hills and fed by various natural springs. An abundance of wild animals, most prominently the Indian gaur and the spotted deer, roam in herds. The farm grows arabica – Sln.9, Sln 795, HDT*Catuai, Chandragiri and Catimor; canephora – Peradeniya, C*R and Sln 274; and liberica. The wet mill houses a century-old 12-foot water wheel, generating hydroelectric power for coffee pulping. Karadykan has an in-house 20 bed hospital and day creche to support the 75 families living on the farm.(1)

My thoughts
this coffee was the perfect “wakeup” call for the morning if you made it as a south indian filter kaapi. i dint even use milk for the kaapi. even half-n-half couldnt take away from the flavour bomb that was this coffee. the darkness was also sweet like javvu mittai, if you know what i mean.
